Alessandra Coli

During the webinar, Alessandra Coli set her main focus on household distributional accounts and their place in national accounts, main methodological challenges, household distributional accounts in official statistics, and some analyses on experimental results. 

Alessandra Coli is a statistical officer for sector accounts production, and key indicators at Eurostat. Since 2006, she was tenured researcher in Economic Statistics (SECS-S/03) at the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Pisa, where she was teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in economic and business statistics. In October 2020, she left the University and became statistical officer at the European Commission (Eurostat, Luxembourg) in the national accounts production unit.

  • Household distributional accounts and their place in national accounts

  • Main methodological challenges: Integration of information from macro (national accounts) and micro (surveys or administrative data) sources; Matching of micro data on income and consumption expenditure. 

  • Household distributional accounts in official statistics: from the Stiglitz-Sen-Fitoussi report (2009) to the upcoming revision of the System of National Accounts.

  • Presentation of some analyses on experimental results

Participants will learn:

  • the type of information provided by the household distribution accounts.

  • the added value of household distribution accounts compared to national accounts and survey data

  • the use of household distributional accounts to measure economic inequality 

  • the role of Eurostat in the development of households distributional accounts 

At the end of the webinar, participants will know what household distributional accounts are,  what their usefulness is in relation to available macro and micro statistics, and what the main methodological challenges are for their estimation.
